Functional Nutrition Counseling

What is Functional Nutrition?

Functional nutrition looks at every aspect of a person’s health (diet, lifestyle, family history, environmental and genetics) to determine nutrition and lifestyle recommendations for improving inflammation, sugar imbalance, food, mood issues, and more.

Functional Nutrition Counseling

Gooden Healthy Nutrition takes the time to listen to your story and get to know you. Using our E.A.T. functional nutrition approach we empower, advise and teach you about the ways these factors may prevent you from achieving optimal health.  We also offer suggestions for nutrition and lifestyle improvements that will help you achieve healthy eating for life.

Genomic Test Interpretation

Genomic Test Interpretation Service

Gooden Healthy Nutrition provides genomic test interpretation and an individualized genomic report based on your personal DNA data obtained from 23andme or AncestryDNA.

There is nothing more powerful than having the knowledge of your genetic footprint to help your take control your health.  Your genes can tell you how well you metabolize and utilize certain nutrients, what foods are good for you, and your risk of developing various diseases and conditions.

With the genomic report and recommendations you will be able to integrate this information into your care plan with your healthcare provider.

The ability to determine your individualized nutrition needs is exactly what you need to motivate you towards healthy eating for life.

What does the report include?

  • Risk of developing diseases, such as Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, autoimmune disorders (hyperthyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.), and other conditions

  • Specific nutritional needs such as folate and vitamin B12

  • Beneficial and problematic foods based on your blood type

  • Therapeutic supplements

  • Lifestyle intervention

How does this work?

Step 1:  Order your personal DNA test from 23andme or Ancestry. When your DNA test results are available, email a copy of the data file to GHN.

Step 2:  Using your DNA data, we interpret, analyze and compare your genetic results using the most current peer-reviewed and evidence-based research, which shows health outcomes in people with similar genetics.

Step 3:  We produce a detailed genomic report based on the DNA data analysis performed in step 2.

Step 4:  We review the genomic report and my interpretation with you (via online meeting).
